Top 10 gut health foods

Learn more about the healing power of fruits and vegetables - and how they can provide first aid:

  1. Pineapple The tropical fruit contains plenty of enzymes that break down our food and also expel intestinal parasites from the digestive system. The nutritional miracle contains particularly high levels of vitamins, minerals and trace elements and also puts us in a good mood.

  2. Apple The peel of domestic fruit in particular contains substances that are especially good for digestion: pectins. They thicken the food pulp and thus optimally stimulate the movement of the intestines (peristalsis). Grated apple is an excellent home remedy against diarrhea.

  3. Artichoke The artichoke contains abundant bitter substances that help our digestion and stimulate the production of saliva and digestive juices.

  4. Avocado The valuable oils of the fruit are a wonderful help for a weakened and irritated stomach. In addition, the avocado contains beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body and is needed by our body to build a healthy mucous membrane in the digestive tract.

  5. Banana Packed with healthy vitamins and fiber, the stomach activity is promoted. As a healthy snack, bananas can also help with diarrhea, as the pectins they contain (like apple) delay bowel evacuation.

  6. Fennel The essential oils contained in fennel are particularly good for our digestive system. It also serves as a natural remedy for flatulence. To prepare a fennel tea, pour a cup of boiling water over a teaspoon of fennel seeds.

  7. Potato In cooked potatoes, soluble fiber is formed, which promotes healthy intestinal flora and acts like a protective shield on the mucous membrane in the digestive tract. In the case of excessive production of gastric acid, which is noticeable, for example, by heartburn, potatoes can have an anti-inflammatory effect in the stomach area and bind an excess of gastric acid.

  8. Papaya This tropical fruit is easily digestible and provides an important enzyme called papain. The enzyme makes hard-to-digest foods more digestible by activating fat and protein digestion. Pain as well as heartburn triggered by other stomach-irritating foods can be relieved by papaya.

  9. Sauerkraut This healthy multi-talent provides probiotically active microorganisms that strengthen a healthy balance of intestinal flora and increase the "good" intestinal bacteria.

  10. Topinambur The diabetic vegetable contains a lot of inulin, which provides a high satiety value, but hardly increases the blood sugar level. This inulin belongs to the prebiotics, which are indigestible substances that positively influence the growth and activity of our lactic acid bacteria.

I hope you were able to take away something worth knowing for yourself.
